Context: tracking personal finances in CFA francs with spreadsheets or several scattered apps quickly becomes painful, especially once several accounts (cash, Mobile Money, bank account) and recurring operations are involved.
Problem: offer a single, multi-account, multi-user dashboard that stays simple to use while strictly complying with Benin's personal data protection law (n°2017-20, APDP).
Technical decisions: authentication goes through Auth0 (including Google login), the app installs as a PWA on both mobile and desktop, and every financial export (PDF via dompdf, Excel via PhpSpreadsheet) stays separate from the APDP data-portability JSON export. Compliance includes versioned consent, automatic pruning of usage data, and a genuine right to erasure that anonymizes the account without allowing silent recreation through SSO.
Result: a public v1 in production, covered by 133 PHPUnit tests and statically analyzed with PHPStan, live at oeil360finance.bytechnum.com.
