Context: every year, new Beninese high school graduates have to pick a public track among more than 200 options spread across UAC, Parakou, UNSTIM, UNA and other institutions, with no real way to estimate in advance their chances of getting a scholarship or aid.
Problem: the official MESRS orientation guide lists the tracks and their criteria, but nothing lets a student quickly cross-reference their own profile (bac track, grades, coefficients) against the 224 tracks to see where they actually stand a chance.
Technical decisions: the backend engine loads the 224 tracks from the 2026-2027 guide at startup and resolves, for each bac track (A1, A2, B, C, D), the specific subject triplet each track calculates on. The student declares their 3 strongest subjects with grades; only tracks sharing at least 2 of those 3 subjects are kept, then ranked by weighted average and estimated allocation chance. No grade or personal data is stored server side: the calculation happens on the fly and is then forgotten.
Result: an application deployed as a single container (the Spring Boot backend embeds and serves the static frontend), with GitHub Actions continuous integration on every pull request (formatting, tests, build) for both the Java backend and the React frontend.
